Wouldn’t you know it, not long after I published my Monero Mining post along comes news that you can now buy music with Monero!

Well, not all music, but there’s apparently over 40 top artists, including Mariah Carey, Sia, and G-Eazy who’s material you can grab for your digital bucks.

As reported by Billboard Magazine and Forbes, Rapper G-Eazy released a statement saying, “As cryptocurrencies become more popular, it’s important that my fans have choices when it comes to how they buy my songs and merchandise. Given Monero is one of the safest, most secure and most private cryptocurrencies, it’s one of the best options for my fans this holiday season — and just in time for my new album.”

FWIW, I like Monero. I dig the privacy aspect because sometimes that’s needed. I also dig that mainstream artists are getting behind crypto. Sure, for at least some of them I imagine it’s more about marketing and sales than any philosophical or evangelistic motivation. But hey, it’s also marketing and sales for crypto. So, win-win, right?

And with Bitcoin soaring close to $12k USD this year, it seems reasonable to think that working with one of the top 10 cryptocurrencies (by market cap) might yield some positive returns.

According to CoinMarketCap, Monero (XMR) is presently trading at just over $252USD.

Project Coral Reef is behind the initiative.

So, are you doing any holiday shopping with Monero? Let us know in the comments.
